About The Bronx Anarchist Fair

The Bronx Anarchist Fair is a public event for people in our neighborhoods to learn and share with each other about how to make grassroots change. We come together to celebrate the Bronx’s history of resistance and resilience, and share practical tools for anti-authoritarian organizing and action.

The Bronx Anarchist Fair will include: tables of radical books, and tables for local grassroots groups to outreach; a “Really Really Free Market” swap meet; a series of workshops on how to organize in and reclaim our communities; screenings of radical movies; all-day childcare; and a kickin’ afterparty.

We Believe:

  • The time for waiting is over! The issues we face in our communities are critical, and waiting on bosses and bureaucrats to fix them isn’t working. We must organize and work together to set ourselves free.
  • Anarchist / anti-authoritarian direct action is an effective first choice for addressing problems in our communities, not a means of last resort
  • Anarchist tools of practice and analysis are valuable, and should be shared
  • We have much to learn from communities already doing liberatory work
  • To be effective, we need a Bronx-based network of folks dedicated to struggling together; we hope the Fair will further such a network, but we don’t intend to force it into being.
  • We must constantly envision and re-envision our ideas of what radical autonomous communities look like
